I recently did an interview (2013) this is me, so far
TELL ME A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF:
I’m Anna, 31 years old, very happily married to my musician and graphic designing husband, Ryan for 9 years. I’m a mum to three totally adorable children Beth (5), Ben (3) and baby Alyssia. After studying English Literature as part of my A Levels, I gained a degree in English Literature at Birmingham University. Although back then I went on to study for a PGCE rather than do anything with writing – which has always been my dream (and, even though I wanted to, I didn’t know how I could afford to be a full time writer).
Mostly, I’m a stay at home Mama – which means I’m busy with baking, creating, talking, organising, going out, making imaginary worlds and when they are asleep I work – creating projects and emailing.
I love chatting, coffee dates, baking and family time therefore writing is my time! We have a busy life but I carve out precious time to write – even if that means waking at 5am to get a few hours to myself, which I do a few times a week! I have recently self published a Christian Devotional: Devoted, and I have been given wonderful feedback on my writing style and the stories of our daily life, where I seek to find God in the midst of everything.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WRITING?
I love the way words can come together to form beautiful sentences, the way worlds can be created and imagination never ceases. I love the way writing details scenes that cannot be captured in any other form – visually or audibly. I love the escape in writing where there are no demands from my family but I can create, dream and allow my imagination to come alive.
WHAT IS YOUR WRITING DREAM?
As an eight year old I remember going into a quaint antique shop in Ironbridge and asking my parents to buy me an old (1920’s) dictionary it was only 10p, but I have kept this on my shelves as I have moved house and know that it was a defining moment in my life when my writing dream began.
At College, studying English Literature I loved the discussion of words, context and character then as I went on to teach GCSE English I began to dream that one day I would feature in one of the Literature Anthologies teenagers would read, although now my writing focus has changed and I would say I fit very comfortably within ‘Chick Lit’ genre.
I would love to see my blog saved in your favourites (go on
) my book(s) for sale, to see a thumbed copy for loan at the local Library or readable on Kindle. I want to create beautiful, believable worlds where my readers will begin to believe in miracles hidden in the everyday, where love wins, hope comes alive and they may chuckle to themselves as they turn the pages in a hurry to see what happens next.
At the beginning of the year I resolved that I wanted 2013 to be my year of opportunity. So here I am 9 years after graduating still writing, blogging, journalling and dreaming of characters, with hope of writing in magazines and other blogs. It’s a dream, which I hope I can fulfill this year!
